See What Our Patients Say About This Location:
I was able to book a next day appointment with Sharon while only in Austin 2 days as part of a vacation. I had injured my back from a fall a couple days earlier and was in major pain and discomfort. I was really happy to see that Sharon had a 60 dollar acute injury option instead of having to do the full new patient intake that is typically required for new acupuncture patients. Sharon was sharp and attentive and immediately set to work to figure out what was going on with my back and how to fix it. She put my vertebrae back in place using Tui Na and then used acupuncture and other pressure/massage to relax my tight and swollen muscles. She even went a half hour over with me for no extra charge, just to make sure she did everything she could to get me feeling better. Within a few hours after my appointment, my pain had mostly disappeared, and today, the next day, I am almost completely pain free. The fast transformation was amazing and soo needed. Thank you so much, Sharon! Getting in last minute and with such relief was a miracle!

I have had an ongoing problem most of my adult life with - of all things - ear wax buildup. I have tried many methods for clearing it over the years that included the "Fire Hose Method" where a nurse forces a pressurized stream of water and peroxide into your ear, the Debrox Ear Wax Removal Kit, and a goofy device that looks like a battery powered screw driver that actually has a small rubber auger on the tip of it that is supposed to clean out the ear canal. None of these methods worked really well, but while living in Southern California I came across a method known as "Ear Candling." Skeptical at first, I gave it a try and had better than moderate results. After repeated visits, I began noticing significant relief of ear pain, and better hearing. After moving to Texas, I could not find an Ear Candling practitioner in the Georgetown area, so I retreated to the very awkward and considerably unconformable "Fire Hose Method." That is until came across The Phoenix & Dragon: Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine clinic in Austin. I was able to get an appointment within two days with Sharon. After filling out the obligatory health questionnaire and release forms, she showed me into a very comfortable room, had me law on may side, and candled first my right ear, and then my left. Having has this done in the past, I knew what to expect - slight pressure and a crinkling sound. what I I did not expect was immediate relief, and then continual gradual relief as the day went on. She cut open the candle and there was a large rather undignified wad of dark brown ear wax that had been drawn up out of my ear, and I had just had my ears done using the "Fire Hose Method" at BSW on January 5th. I was ready to hop up off the table and grab my coat, but she told me to lay back down because part of the treatment included a facial and sinus massage. Now I was beginning to realize that I had sinus blockage as well, and she was able to break it up and relieve pressure on the right side of my face. There was no sales pressure to come back, but she suggested perhaps once a month just come in for a "tune-up." for $45.00, I think I can do that. Do not let the candle scare you away. It is a safe and effective method of removing ear wax. Oh yes, one more thing. if you want to make a day of it, the Blanton and the Bullock are just a few miles away, and Austin has a brand new public library complete with cafe.

This is my first time doing acupuncture but I felt like Sharon really explained everything thoroughly. The session took over 2 hours because it was my first time so definitely worth your money. She discussed all my concerns and issues and explained me to what I could do improve my issues. I was extremely relaxed after my first session and will definitely be coming back! This is near the UT campus but there is plenty of parking and I like there is online booking!I am posting under my husbands name on yelp but the review is by Tania Rosamond.

I feel absolutely blessed to have met with Sharon for three sessions. At the time, I was visiting Austin from California and was in the process of healing physically from a double impact car accident. My physical body seems up to par for the first time in seven months, and my lower back pain that was irking and constant has finally subsided. We additionally made huge progress when we did bioenergetic synchronization--a combination of multiple modalities that Sharon tailors based on her client’s needs. I do not believe in taking medication for emotional and/or physical pain, and this amazing process really helped to give me faith that there are working substitutes for not only subsiding pain (emotional and physical) but for eliminating it. I would not say that this treatment is for the weak, as it is a lot of work, but the healing is quite powerful. Sharon is a wonderful acupuncturist who hits all of the right spots (more effective:) and is also very skilled in massage therapy, cupping, and do not forget the herbs. I would go as far to say that Sharon is a healer and when you put your faith and trust in the process, it can do wonders.

My daughter and I both saw Sharon for ear candling. It was a very cool experience! My daughter has been complaining about clogged ears, like after you are on an airplane but can’t pop your ears. Not serious enough to see the specialist, but I though this might help. A lot of wax was pulled from her ears, and a good amount from mine as well! It’s actually very satisfying to see what comes out. After the candling, which takes about 20 mins for each ear, Sharon does a facial, neck and scalp massage that was so absolutely divine. We both left feeling very relaxed, and my daughter said her ears felt so much better (pressurized). Would definitely do again!

The Phoenix & Dragon in Austin, Texas is a practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine operated by Sharon Shuppert, Dipl. OM, L.Ac. We are so glad you are considering our clinic for your naturopathic and eastern medical needs.
Sharon attended the Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCTCM) where she earned her Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine. The institution has been ranked among the top three Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges in the country. TCTCM received this designation by Traditional Chinese Medicine World, which is a national newspaper that focuses on informing both healthcare professionals and their clients about TCM. Sharon has earned the designation of Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and is also licensed by the Texas State Medical Board.
In 1995, Sharon discovered the possibilities of oriental medicine about battling persistent headaches for an entire year. Thanks to the use of Chinese herbs and acupuncture, Sharon’s headaches were alleviated and she became a believer. What’s more, oriental medicine functions holistically—bring healing to the mind, body, and spirit—trying TCM helped her restore balance to her whole body. Other bothersome health conditions such as allergies, fatigue, and premenstrual syndrome were also relieved with TCM. Seeing firsthand the possibilities of oriental medicine, Sharon forged a career out of introducing others to these amazing therapies.
Sharon is proud to have trained with Dr. Teh-Fu Tan, the grand master of acupuncture. She has incorporated Dr. Tan’s Balance Method into her repertoire of acupuncture services. When Sharon applies this method to her Austin area patients at The Phoenix & Dragon, they enjoy immediate positive results. Plus, repeated treatments have been shown to offer long-term relief from their ailments.
The Phoenix & Dragon is located in proximity to the University of Texas campus in Austin off of I-35 in the Medical Arts Square.
